About Hope

Hope Maddox is a Costume Designer, Technician, and Educator based out of Virginia.
She currently works as the Costume Shop Manager and Resident Designer at Randolph College where she the instructor for several classes including:
Costume Design and Technology
Stage Makeup
Intro to Theatre
Passing on the skills she has developed and awakening an excitement and appreciation for costumes and theatre in her students is one of the many aspects of higher education that she enjoys.
Hope's professional costume design and technology resume includes work with: the American Shakespeare Center, Endstation Theatre Company, University of Lynchburg, Old City Cemetery Candlelight Tours, Sweet Briar College, The Prizery, and wardrobe crew at the Berglund Center.
Hope's passions for bringing Non-Profit Theatre to her community has not only led her to serve in the costume compacity but also as the Production Manager and then as the Supervisor of Operations for Endstation Theatre Company from 2023-2024.
From April 2018 to August 2020, Hope was the Costume Shop Manager at the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, Va. During her time there she taught Costume History Masterclasses during Covid for the ASC's Masterclass series, as well as in person Tudor Fashion workshops for the education department.
Hope earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Longwood University in Theatre with a Minor in History in 2015. She graduated with her M.A. degree in Nonprofit Leadership Studies from the University of Lynchburg in 2022.
A constant learner, Hope also holds a certificate from the University of Glasgow and Historic Royal Palaces in A History of Royal Fashion and one from the University of Roehampton in The Tudors from their programs through Futurelearn.
